At the beginning of this pandemic, a bunch of local Peterborough Photographers wanted to do something special to show our appreciation for our local health care workers. We got together and decided to offer free photography sessions for the front line staff and first responders at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). These complimentary sessions are being offered this fall, in September and October. This is Krista and her partner, Brian. Krista is a nurse who works in the NICU at Peterborough Regional Health Centre hospital. Along with medical care, Krista offers support to families of babies who are not well enough to go home. It must be a very emotional time during Covid for families with babies who still need to be in the hospital, plus the uncertainty of what's going on with the pandemic, means different and unique support required for these families. We thank you Krista, for your dedication and commitment to helping vulnerable infants and their families. Here is Krista's story: I am a Registered Nurse in the NICU. The pandemic has definitely had a humbling effect on me, it's given me the opportunity to slow down life a little and spend more quality time with my loved ones. I think the most challenging aspect has been the uncertainty, especially in the early days of not knowing what to expect and how impacted my day to day life would be. The most rewarding aspect is that I still get to work with some amazing babies and their families, helping them to adjust to being in the NICU and getting them ready to "graduate" and take their babies home.
