This year our Christmas Mini Sessions will be a bit different. We are offering outdoor sessions only with 3 different set designs. New this year is a Vintage Red Sleigh! Sessions will be held in Cobourg, Ontario just north of the 401 on our property. Because we can't move the sleigh from place to place, we have decided to use our own 5 acres to permanently place the 3 sets.
As a result, we can offer various dates in November and December for anyone who cannot make certain mini session dates. If you are available during the week (this is for you home schoolers or for PA Days), we are offering $20 off the session! Drop us an email through the contact page and we give you more details. At the beginning of this pandemic, a bunch of local Peterborough Photographers wanted to do something special to show our appreciation for our local health care workers. We got together and decided to offer free photography sessions for the front line staff and first responders at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). These complimentary sessions are being offered this fall, in September and October. Here is Amanda, her husband and her beautiful boys. Amanda is an RN who works at the hospital in acute medical care. We can only imagine how hard it was to live in your parent's basement - not seeing your family while working during the Pandemic. We thank you Amanda, for your dedication and commitment. Here is Amanda's story: I work full time as a nurse on our acute medicine floor. My husband also works at PRHC in environmental services.
When the pandemic first started, my husband took a few weeks off to care for our children, we have 4, but the youngest two needed him home. Our youngest, who is 3 has health issues. I moved out and into my moms basement apartment in order to keep my people safe. It was scary and anxieties were high. I work with an amazing group of nurses, who always pull together for our patients and each other. Anxieties quickly diminished and we did what we do best :) I am very proud of how PRHC as a whole has take on this endeavour, and so thankful for my solid work crew :) At the beginning of this pandemic, a bunch of local Peterborough Photographers wanted to do something special to show our appreciation for our local health care workers. My unit does pre and post surgical care.
The pandemic has affected me in many ways. I had my second baby May 2019 and came back off my maternity leave May 2020, in the middle of the pandemic. When I came back, the hospital still in flux, still working out how best to deal with screening and procedures pertaining to Covid, new changes came daily. My work family brought be in, made sure I understood what I needed to do differently. They gave me support, encouragement and courage. The most challenging part is probably the same as most people, fear of the unknown. How bad is it going to be? How many people will be effected? How many sick? How many die? Am I putting my family at risk going back to work? The most rewarding has been people coming together. People helping each other in hard times. PRHC pivoting on a dime to make going to the hospital safe. The foodbank ramping up because so many people needed them more than ever are just two organizations that stepped up. Individuals changing their lives so we may all be safer. The majority of people listening to scientific leaders and making a change. It is incredible. At the beginning of this awful pandemic, a bunch of local Peterborough Photographers wanted to do something special to show our appreciation for our local health care workers. We got together and decided to offer free photography sessions for the front line staff and first responders at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). These complimentary sessions are being offered this fall, in September and October. Today, I'm introducing you to a lovely couple, Jami and Shaun. Jami is a nurse in the ICU at the hospital. We had a fun filled photo session! What a joy to meet these guys. Read Jami's story below. I am an RN in the ICU at PRHC. For me, it has been really hard since I have had to isolate from my parents and grand parents. My mother and father have been helping make sure my grand parents are taken care of and my grandmother is immunocompromised. In order to ensure she didn’t get sick, I went a few months without seeing my parents. Further, it’s been six months since I have hugged my mother or father. The most challenging part of this pandemic from a work perspective has been seeing what this virus is capable of doing; I’ve personally taken care of covid positive patients and I’ve witnessed the terrible and destructive outcomes it’s had on people. Even worse had been the visitor policy at work and how families wish so badly to be with their loved ones but in order to protect everyone, including the patients, families weren’t allowed to visit for such a long time. It takes such a strain on the family members. The most rewarding part of all of this though has been witnessing the strength in the team of nurses and doctors, clerks and ward aids I work with. The ICU team banded together was tight knit as you could believe and we were there for each other, we had each other’s backs and we lent a shoulder to the next whenever needed! I feel privileged to work with such an amazing team. And of course the support from my family, friends and most importantly Shaun. He was there for me every shift that I got home, ready to talk, allowed me to vent, cry, be scared and feel vulnerable. He’s been an amazing partner throughout this crisis and I know even more now how lucky I am to have him. Thank you Jami, for working hard and protecting all of us. We can only imagine the stress and emotions you went through and we thank you and your work partners in the ICU for your commitment and dedication.
